Overseas Retirement Property Page 2
France - The Gironde
If youve ever visited the Gironde, you will have been tempted to buy a retirement property in this region, one of the most beautiful and varied in all of France. The Gironde has the longest estuary and the largest forest in Europe and the biggest lake - Hourtin-Carcans - ideal for sailing - in the whole of France. Dotted with ancient villages, mediaeval cities and amphitheatres, and Gallic and Roman fortifications, this region is as famed for its architectural and natural values as it is for its wines and gastronomy. From the protected nature reserves of the Landes of Gascony, with at least 260 different species of birds and 3,500 km of rivers down to the Bassin dArcachon where the pine forests meet the sea, this region of France offers some of the worlds most beautiful and peaceful retreats. You will, of course, be drinking the local wines: Mouton-Rothschild, Margaux, Saint-Emilion and eating oysters from the Arcachon Basin, lamb from Pauillac and sweet canneles from Bordeaux. All in all, the Gironde is something of a paradise for the overseas property buyer. http://www.lesmilandes.com
Spain -Isla Tortuga, Sotogrande
Here you can buy into the 'Sotogrande' lifestyle for around £350,000 for a three bedroom, three bathroom luxury apartment
Many people like to go abroad when they retire some to live permanently and others to miss out on the winter months at home. The choice in the Mediterranean is now huge and varied but perhaps the most spectacular destination for quiet sophistication in retirement is Sotogrande - an estate encompassing world class golf courses, international polo, beach clubs, water sports, tennis and riding. Sotogrande is ideal as a base for excursions into Southern Andalucia with its white villages and striking countryside, for trips by ferry across the Straits to Africa, or just for driving up to Marbella.
Property is no longer as cheap as it once was but the selection is greater than ever. From the Hotel Club Maritimo, prominently situated overlooking the harbour entrance, you head inland to the western corner of the marina basin and youll find Isla Tortuga. This is a superb island development of secure properties perfect for retirement in the sun or that second home. Some of the properties have private pools and there is a security service connected to all apartments. Contact: http://www.holmesotogrande.com
